To Creation of Ashes, for 221 packet captures from the original Alpha-2 servers. Studying them is how this project learned what the client expects.

The original servers are gone, and what the client expects from a server was never written down anywhere. The only way left to learn it is to look at what the client once exchanged with those servers. Creation of Ashes recorded 24.6 MB of that traffic, one action at a time, sorted by what was done, and shared it with the project. Studying these captures allowed us to understand the packet structures the client expects and write our own compatible server logic from scratch.

What the captures cover

Equipment/70every slot equipped, artisan tools, costumes, hiding the helmet and the cape
Archer/41the archer's skill trees and every archer skill, from Barbs to Vinefield
Inventory/40consumables, treasure maps, commodity crates, storage, harvesting hunted animals
Action/33boats, caravans bought, driven, deployed and abandoned, mounts on and off the road, fishing, the PvP flag
Character/12Embersprings found, set as home and revived at, unstuck, commission boards, node taxes, mayor votes, siege waitlists
Events/11world events and Harbinger events, from the start to the reward
Weapon/9full weapon combos and the wand's investment trees
Mail/4sold items and entitlements taken from the mail, mail deleted
Store/1the store menu
total22124.6 MB of pcapng

The project's tests and research notes refer to these recordings as the reference for what the client expects. The server logic checked against them is the project's own.
